Mark's 31st Birthday

IMG_4805Zachary's college roommate turned 31 just a week or so after Zachary. His beautiful wife threw him a fun surprise party and we were invited! We were thrilled to be able to help celebrate him and be apart of the surprise! Halley, Mark's wife, had him blindfolded and clueless as to what his evening would entail. She had already given him a fun-filled week of surprises so "surely he wouldn't be on his way to a surprise party," he must have been thinking!

Haley and the host, Leslie, (who in a small world coincedence just happened to be the same Leslie I went to school with since Elementary school!) decorated the house with a fun foot ball theme, had pictures of Mark up and made adorable DIY lawn games for everyone to play.
Haley drove up with Mark in the car and we all waited outside for them. As he opened the door, we all stood super quiet until he reached up to take off his blindfold. We then, of course, let out a loud "Surprise!" He was very surprised and full of smiles.
Thirty-One! Whoop, Whoop!
The girls had also set up a Photo booth which we made great use out of!
We took our pics with our phones, which made for some blurry photos, but you get the gist.
Mark was one of Zachary's best men at our wedding and is one of those "life" friends for Zachary. In college, people always said that they looked like brothers. Do you see it?
In the back yard, in addition to some fun yard games, they also set up and little S'mores bar with unique chocolate substitutes like Reeses Cups or Mint Patties. IMG_4807After snacking on some delicious sliders, S'mores and utilizing the photo booth, everyone funneled there way to the backyard and we played several rounds of "Psychologist." It was awesome and we couldn't stop laughing. It made me feel like I was in college again, in a good way.

Sebastian's 2nd Birthday

This cuteness is my nephew, Sebastian! Isn't he adorable? His cute-ness level just went up a billion when he got glasses a few months ago. Is there anything cuter than a toddler in glasses?! He's already broken several pair but is getting used to them and doing great. Sebastian turned two in September and we were so excited to help celebrate his birthday! He's obsessed with Mickey Mouse so my sister's grandparents made him an adorable Mickey Mouse cake. We got some fun bunting, plates and napkins and called it a party!
Chara was a diligent cupcake watcher, making sure no one dropped one. She's very helpful.
We had friends and family over to my parent's house to celebrate. For lunch, everyone brought a dish and we noshed on BBQ and the some Texas sides like potato salad and Mac and Cheese.
After lunch, we lit Sebastian's birthday candle to sing Happy Birthday. He was so cute, dancing to the song and clapping! It was a great day to celebrate this sweet boy.
We love you Sebastian! post signature

Zachary's Birthday Brunch

This morning we met friends & family that live in the area, & that could make it, for brunch at El Monumento in Georgetown. We love the ambiance of this restaurant & thought it would be the perfect place for a big group to meet. Zachary's birthday is officially the 28th but since we'll be going to see his family next weekend we decided to celebrate with my family this weekend. El Monumento is right on the San Gabriel river so they have nice views of the water, great outdoor seating & a great atmosphere. They also have some pretty good food & drinks!

That probably had something to do with the fresh cream they served along side it but whatever it was, it was good & has me dreaming of spending mornings there.

After eating & drinking our coffee Zachary opened up a few cards & gifts.
Zachary's long time friend from college who was also one of his groomsmen, gave Zachary a copy of his book that was just published.

Our brunch bunch that came out to celebrate! Both sets of my grandparents were there, my mom & my step dad, my little sister, my aunt & uncle, Kathleen, my brother & 2 of our friends from college, Thomas & Cat.
After everyone finished eating we lit up Zachary's carrot cake. We put all 29 candles on his cake.

Zachary had a great day celebrating his birth! :) Thank you guys for coming out & celebrating with us!

Daddy Mosby's Birthday Weekend

DSC02855This year we are so excited to be home for our close friends and families' birthdays! We were so happy to celebrate Zachary's fathers' 56th birthday this year! The last birthday we celebrated in person with him was his 51st! Geesh, that's way too long ago, right?! DSC02830Dallas had some snow this March (his birthday month) so we had a nice white birthday for him. :) I loved that. :) DSC02831For his birthday we got him a beginner bow & a target. Zachary was so excited to give it to him, he gave it to him the morning of his birthday instead of waiting until that night like everyone else did. haha. Like a little kid! DSC02834DSC02839
It made for a fun birthday day & gave them something to do together, though. The guys played over and over and over & got pretty good! Chara-girl and Abby (Zachary's childhood dog) loved being outside with the boys but we had to stop them from chasing the arrows!DSC02841DSC02842For his birthday dinner we went to Abuelo's in Arlington. It was delicious & a beautiful restaurant. DSC02843DSC02845DSC02846DSC02849DSC02850This was ammmmmazing. I want it right now.

Enchiladas De Cozumel: Delicate crepes filled with fresh guacamole, covered in a white wine sauce with seasoned shrimp, sea scallops, mushrooms, fresh spinach and roasted peppers.DSC02851DSC02852By the end of dinner the snow was melting. Noooo! DSC02854
We went back to the house to open presents & enjoy the delicious cake Brittany made.

DSC02856In the Mosby house birthdays are a big deal. They go all out, as you can see.
DSC02871DSC02872DSC02876No shirts, a cozy blanket, a watch, fishing gear, the present list goes on and on. DSC02881Besides for his bow & arrow, we also got him a Yeti cup. My brother and future sister in law rave about these things! They say they keep things hot or cold for 12 hours plus. DSC02882
We also got him a bomb. Basically. Well an exploding target. My brother works at the Academy where we bought Zachary's dad's gifts and he insisted that we buy him on of these. I'm not gonna lie, I want to be there when they shoot it!DSC02883DSC02860DSC02863After the candles were blown out, the cake was had & the presents were opened Zachary had a "surprise" planned for his daddy. DSC02858Egg Roulette! And Water War. He got both ideas from the Jimmy Fallon show.

To prepare for Egg Roulette you take a dozen eggs and boil 8 of them, leaving 4 raw. After they cool down you can play Egg Roulette. Basically, you take turns choosing an egg and cracking it over your head. It produces tons of hilarity. Lots of raw egg all over & lots of suspense.

To prepare for water war you get a deck of cards, 8 cups of water & a bucket of water. You play war (the card game), the loser getting a cup of ice water thrown on them. Whoever uses up all their cups of waters first gets the bucket thrown on them. Again, lots of laughing & man squeels.

Both games were hilarious to watch. Overall I think Steve had a great birthday. We were so thankful to be there, too! Love you Dad! post signature
